Yoga for the Peaceful Studios
My dream of opening a yoga studio happened in the majestic little mountain town of Crested Butte, Colorado!
The seed was planted back in 1997 when I first moved here and began teaching Yoga while I was a young mother raising three wonderful boys. Lots of change in my life, a 2 year surf/Yoga California adventure, the amazing journey of studying and assisting my Maha teacher, Shiva Rea, and “meeting” my guru, Neem Karoli Baba, and the winds of Shakti brought me back to Crested Butte!
Crested Butte has a lot of Yoga happening all over the place! Fabulous Yoga teachers, and awesome locals and tourists that come from all over the world to Yoga 4 the Peaceful. Instructors experience our mountains, rivers, trails, wildflowers, festivals, and historic town that just oozes with magic, quirky local flavor, and an unexplainable quality that I can only describe as pure Shakti.
So, with Yoga offered all over the place, I dreamed of having one Community Yoga Center where all styles of Yoga were offered and all people would feel comfortable…just a dream, but one day in July ’07 I passed the spot I always thought would be perfect and it had a For Rent sign on it! It was one of those things. I didn’t know how I would do it, but I knew I was going to open a Yoga studio there!
The how is the miracle part. Two months later, on Sept. 21, 2007, Yoga For The Peaceful opened its doors. There are very special people that so graciously, generously, and lovingly made it possible. From cash gifts, love loans, to the people who painted, finished floors, and provided support and mostly the belief in my dream, the list is incredibly long. This studio is here out of Love and the presence and vibration in the studio is so strong that everyone comments on it. I am so grateful to all the people who have supported me; my family, teachers, students, friends, and all the countless volunteers in the evolution of the studio. Special thanks to Juliet Stillman who stepped in as a partner and helped bring the studio to a new level through her generous spirit and support. To my maha teacher, Shiva Rea, and my guru, Neem Karoli Baba, for whom this studio is dedicated, my utmost devotion and love. Most of all to God, the one who breathes us all.
