Love in action can transform lives
Mar 02, 2026My heart is overflowing.
Because of your generosity, 17-year-old Oscar competed in the ISA World Junior Surfing Championships in Peru. We covered his flights, accommodations, and essential gear so he could show up ready, not scrambling, not behind, but prepared. He represented Colombia with pride and gained invaluable experience. He took a powerful step forward — not just as an athlete, but as a young man building his future.
Soul on Fire Surf Scholarship Fund is officially launched
Friday the 20th of February, we held our first community event at Punta Las Velas in Cartagena, Colombia — right on the beach where you can see the surf break on one side and kite surfers flying across the water on the other. The energy was electric. The purpose was clear. This is not simply about supporting surfers.
This is about supporting under-resourced young men in Cartagena, Colombia — covering competition costs, mentorship, education, and long-term stability. These boys are navigating real financial hardship. Surfing is their doorway. But what we’re building is dignity, structure, leadership, and possibility.
The local surf community showed up beautifully, families, beach locals, business owners, friends. We had a DJ, Soul on Fire hats, a big screen sharing the vision, and an incredible raffle: surf lessons with Oscar and Chispy, board rentals with Poly, yoga with me, and more. Through the raffle alone, we raised $300. And in Cartagena, that $300 matters. In this community it goes a long way and every bit helps these young surfers pursue their dreams.
What’s next
The Las Velas Pro Cartagena Surf Championships, right on the boys’ home break. Oscar will compete in Open and Under-18. Chispy will compete in Open. Funds will cover entry fees, proper equipment, coaching support, food, shelter, and transportation so they can compete with focus and dignity, not survival stress.
But this mission goes beyond competitions. Oscar needs long-term educational support and housing stability. Chispy is building his future through English studies and entrepreneurial mentorship while coaching younger surfers.
Poly, our on-the-ground partner in Cartagena, has been instrumental. He opened his home to Oscar when he had nowhere else to go and continues mentoring these young men daily.
The long-term vision? Not just developing athletes. Developing leaders. Young men who will give back through surf lessons, mentorship, and community initiatives like beach clean-ups and youth coaching.
One of my beloved teachers, Amma, says:
“All the children in this world are our children.”
That truth lives at the heart of Soul on Fire.
From this point forward, a portion of all my offerings, Tantra Yoga Sadhana, workshops, retreats, Soul on Fire hats, and future events, will support this fund.
This is not a side project. It is a devotion. If you feel called to contribute, click here to go directly to our GoFundMe page, where you can read the full story and see exactly what we’re building together.
Thank you for donating.
Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for believing.
We rise by lifting one young man, one family, one future at a time.
With so much love and fire,
Monica
PS: If you’ve been wondering whether a small gift matters — it does. Even $10–$25 helps cover food, transport, and essentials during competition week. Thank you for being a part of this.
