Year of the Fire Horse

The Fire Horse has arrived

Feb 18, 2026

It’s here.

Today, Losar, the Tibetan New Year, begins. And if you’ve felt something electric moving through you these past few days, you weren’t imagining it. We’ve just crossed one of the most potent thresholds in sixty years.

February 16: the Year of the Snake completed its final exhale. February 17: the eclipse arrived - that rare cosmic pause, the void between one breath and the next. And today: the Horse runs free.

The fire is lit 🔥.

The Snake taught you to shed. The Horse is here to make you run.

I want to take a moment with you—before we gallop into everything that's coming—to honor just how far you've traveled. Because the Snake year didn't ask for speed. It asked for truth.

What the Snake Year asked of us

The snake doesn't move by force. It moves by releasing. Skin after skin. Layer after layer. Until what remains is truer.

This past year asked us to go underground, to transform in the dark, to do the invisible work, to trust that what no one could see was still sacred.

I shared a little bit about what I have been shedding in my latest post on Instagram. And I imagine you've been doing your own kind of shedding. Your own kind of going inward.

Before we gallop into what's next, I want to say: that work mattered. Even when it was quiet. Even when it was hard. Even when no one could see it happening. You transformed this year. Let yourself feel that.

You didn't just survive the Snake year. You shed into someone new.

The Fire Horse: once in sixty years

Fire Horse energy is rare. This combination last arrived in 1966, a year of revolution, creative explosion, and bold cultural awakening. A year when people stopped waiting and started running toward what they believed in.

This year carries that same charge. The Horse on its own brings movement, passion, and freedom. Add fire, and it becomes unstoppable. Wildly alive. Deeply purposeful. Unapologetically visible.

But here's what I've learned about real momentum, after decades of teaching and practice: It doesn't come from forcing. It comes from alignment.

The Fire Horse doesn't ask you to be reckless. It asks you to be ready. To take all that Snake-year wisdom, the discernment, the clarity, the things you finally know about yourself, and let it move. Stop processing. Stop waiting for the perfect moment. Stop making yourself smaller so others feel comfortable.

This is your year to run. With your whole heart. With everything you've become.

Heart-Led Momentum (The Horse Medicine)

The Year of the Horse isn't only about speed, bravery, and forward momentum. It's also about how we move: with heart, with devotion, with love.

Horses have long been recognized as powerful healers, and have been shown to support emotional regulation and healing, especially for people carrying stress and trauma. And honestly… I need that medicine right now. Lately, the headlines - immigration fear, exploitation, sex trafficking, and the endless churn of alarming news - have been affecting me deeply.

I feel it in my nervous system. I feel it in my sleep. I feel it in my heart. And it's exactly why I believe it's time for us to have a love revolution. The world needs us anchored in love more than ever. There's a simple affirmation I came up with that I return to when I feel overwhelmed:

Love yourself. Love God. Love the world.

It's a reminder that love begins within, rises into devotion, and then becomes something we extend outward.

My "One Main Thing" this year

In the Year of the Horse, I'm simplifying. I'm devoting my energy to one main offering: Tantra Yoga Sadhana (formerly Shakti Yoga Sadhana), the most generous, accessible offering I've ever created. It's everything I love woven together: yoga, breath, mantra, tantric embodiment, self-love, and practices for deeper intimacy: with yourself, with life, and with the people you love.

This is my heart offering this year, because I truly believe these practices are how we meet this moment: with courage, yes… and also with tenderness, coherence, and love. For me, this season of turning 60 is making it crystal clear: my priorities are my beloved, my sons, my family, and sharing about this path of love. I want my time and energy to reflect what I value most.

More details coming very soon.

I’m also devoting energy to the Soul on Fire Surf Scholarship Fund, supporting young men in Colombia with the resources, mentorship, and community they need to rise.

Your Fire Horse invitation

As you step into this rare and potent year, I want to leave you with a few questions to sit with—not to answer quickly, but to let burn slowly:

What have you shed this past year that you haven't yet honored?
What has been living quietly inside you, waiting for permission to run?
What would you do—right now, this year—if you fully trusted your fire?

The Snake gave you wisdom. The Horse is giving you wind. This is a once-in-sixty-years invitation to stop hiding your gifts, and let them gallop. I believe in you. I believe in the fire you've been quietly tending.

Now let it out.

May what is ending complete fully.
May what is beginning arrive with grace.
May you trust the life that is trying to move through you.

And may this Fire Horse year be the one where you finally, finally, let yourself run.

With all my love and all my fire,

Monica ❤️‍🔥
