The first Full Moon of 2026: A Homecoming to Yourself

Jan 03, 2026

In the early hours of January 3rd, we welcomed the first full moon of 2026.

This one feels significant. Not just because it marks the first lunar peak of the new year, but because of what it’s inviting us into: a homecoming.

The Moon & Our Inner Tides

Not just because it's the first lunar peak of our new year, but because of what it's inviting us into: a homecoming. Cancer—the sign of the divine mother, the nurturer, the keeper of home and heart—asks us to turn inward. To feel deeply. To tend to what needs our love and attention.

This isn't the full moon of pushing forward or setting ambitious goals. This is the full moon of coming home to yourself. Rather than asking: What do I want to achieve this year? This moon whispers different questions and intentions:

🌙 Let the past year go — Release what no longer serves. Honor what was, but don't carry it forward if it's weighing you down.
🌙 Feel your feelings — Cancer rules emotions. This moon invites you to stop bypassing, stop "staying positive," and actually let yourself feel what's present. Your tears are medicine. Your tenderness is power.
🌙 Nurture yourself like you matter — Because you do. What would it look like to mother yourself with the same devotion you give to everyone else?
🌙 Come home to your body — Not your body as a project to fix or improve, but your body as the sacred temple it is. Your first home. Your most intimate relationship.
🌙 Ask: How do I want to FEEL this year? — Not what you want to achieve or accomplish, but how you want to feel in your body, your relationships, your daily life. How you want to move through the world. Who you want to become.

In yoga and tantra, we understand that the moon governs our inner tides—our emotions, intuition, and feminine essence. The full moon is when that energy peaks, illuminating what's been hidden, bringing things to completion, and inviting release.

The Wisdom of Cancer Energy

A Full Moon in Cancer amplifies this even more. It's emotional. It's tender. It's deeply feminine. And it's asking you to prioritize your own nourishment, not just everyone else's. We are reminded that true radiance does not come from striving.

It comes from feeling safe inside ourselves.

From being emotionally present.
From honoring sensitivity as strength.
From tending to our inner home with care and devotion.

This is why I love beginning a new year not with pressure or expectation — but with presence. This is exactly what Shakti Yoga Sadhana is about.

Coming home to yourself.
Loving yourself radically.
Tending to your inner life with the same devotion you give to everything external.

Through breath, movement, meditation, mantra, and Tantra, this practice invites you to move, breathe, and be in ways that honor your body, heart, and spirit.

A Sacred Invitation

To deepen your practice and commit to yourself in a meaningful way this year, I’ll be guiding a live online New Year Intention Setting & Blessing session on January 15th at 7PM CST, exclusively for Shakti Yoga Sadhana members.

This is one of my favorite rituals to begin a new cycle together.

It’s not about forcing intentions or fixing yourself —
It’s about listening deeply, aligning with your truth, and setting the energetic tone for the year ahead.

This session is included for everyone inside Shakti Yoga Sadhana. So if you’ve been feeling the call to join us, this is a beautiful moment to say yes.

Stepping into 2026 with devotion

If you’re longing for a slower, more nourishing way to step into 2026 — one that honors your emotions, your body, and your sacred feminine rhythm — this space is here for you.

Sign up for Shakti Yoga Sadhana here and join the New Year Intention Setting session

May this full moon help you release what no longer serves,
and illuminate the path back to yourself.

P.S. Cancer reminds us that when we feel held within ourselves, we naturally become more loving partners, parents, friends, and beings on this planet. Your inner work truly matters.
